How to Care for Your Bikini So It Lasts Longer
A great bikini shouldn't be something you wear for one summer and forget about.
With the right care, your favourite swimwear can stay looking beautiful season after season.
Swimwear has a harder job than most pieces in your wardrobe.
It's exposed to salt water, chlorine, sunscreen, heat, sunlight and constant movement.
So if you want your bikini to last, a little extra care goes a long way.
Rinse your bikini after swimming
One of the easiest things you can do is also one of the most important.
After swimming, rinse your bikini with cool, fresh water.
Salt water and chlorine can gradually affect swimwear fibres, while sunscreen and oils can build up on the fabric.
You don't need an elaborate routine.
A quick rinse after wearing your bikini can make a significant difference over time.
Avoid the washing machine when possible
Swimwear doesn't need an aggressive wash.
If your bikini needs cleaning, hand wash it gently in cool water using a mild detergent.
Avoid harsh chemicals and strong detergents where possible.
The goal is to clean the fabric without unnecessarily stressing the fibres or damaging delicate details.

Never wring your bikini out
This is one of those little things that can make a surprisingly big difference.
After washing, don't twist or wring your bikini.
Instead, gently press out excess water and lay it flat or hang it somewhere shaded to dry.
Wringing can put unnecessary stress on the fabric, seams and straps.
Keep it out of the dryer
Heat isn't your bikini's best friend.
Avoid tumble drying your swimwear and don't leave it sitting on a hot surface.
High temperatures can affect the elasticity of swimwear fabric over time.
Air drying is the better option.
But there's another important detail.
Don't leave it baking in direct sunlight
We all love a sunny beach day.
Your bikini, however, doesn't need to spend hours drying in full sun.
UV exposure can gradually contribute to fading and wear.
Once you've rinsed your bikini, allow it to dry naturally in a shaded, well-ventilated place.
It'll still dry.
Just with a little less abuse.
Be careful with rough surfaces
Pool edges, rocks, concrete and rough timber can all catch on swimwear fabric.
Sitting directly on rough surfaces can create pulls, pilling or damage.
If you're at the beach, take a towel or sarong to sit on.
It's a small habit that can help keep your bikini looking new for longer.

Give your bikinis a break
If you have a few favourite bikinis, rotate them.
Allowing swimwear to fully dry between wears and giving the fabric a break can help maintain its shape and elasticity.
It's another reason we love having a small collection of bikinis rather than relying on one favourite piece all summer.
Store it properly
Once summer is over, don't simply throw your bikinis into a drawer.
Make sure they're completely dry before storing them and keep them somewhere cool and dry.
Avoid compressing them under heavy clothing.
A little space means less unnecessary pressure on the fabric.
Buy pieces you want to keep
The best form of sustainable fashion isn't complicated.
It's buying things you genuinely love and looking after them.
A bikini that stays in your wardrobe for years is far better than one that's replaced every season.
That's why we encourage our customers to care for their Bokinii pieces properly.
Because when you choose a limited-edition, small-batch piece, we want you to get as much life out of it as possible.
Swim in it.
Travel in it.
Live in it.
And when summer comes around again, reach for it all over again.
Good swimwear deserves a long life.
